Description:

The Department of Child Health Nursing came into existence in the year 2011 with the Undergraduates Programme (B.Sc.(H) Nursing) started at University Level in 2011. As the college was in the progress of its expansion, 2 year Post-Graduate Programme ( MSc. Nursing) and Post Basic BSc. also emerged in the year 2016.

The Department of Child Health Nursing is one among the Six Departments of Nursing. The aim of the Department is to prepare the students to enable them to function as competent Paediatric Nurses in order to understand Growth and Development of the child, guiding parents and children to promote health of children and prevent illness. The department has laboratory/ skill lab with full-fledged equipment and mannequins to develop skills of the students in performing clinical tasks/ procedures prior to their clinical Postings

Objectives/Competencies

  • Impart quality education to the students in the field of child care
  • Prepare the students to become nursing leader and efficient professional nurses in the various health centres.
  • Emphasize the importance of health education for preparing the professional nurses to increase the individual , family and community towards achieving the optimal health

 

Description:

Mental Health (Psychiatric) Nursing department aim to impart Nursing professionals possessing, Knowledge and skills to prepare the competent Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners. The Department of Mental Health Nursing is Enthusiastic to provide quality education to students in Graduation and Post-graduation level, under the supervision of excellent Faculty. Department has promise to facilitate professional and personal growth in the student.

Objectives/Competencies

  1. o impart the knowledge and skills of Mental Health Nursing at all the level.
  2. To incorporate evidence based Nursing practice and promote area of research in the field of Mental Health Nursing.
  3. To integrate teaching and awareness programme to eradicate social stigma of Mental illness.

Description:

Medical-surgical nursing typically takes place in an inpatient hospital setting. They play a vital role in patient safety, comfort, and overall outcomes. Medical-surgical nurses, also called med/surg nurses, help prepare patients for surgery. They educate patients through telehealth or phone calls, asking questions about their medical history and setting expectations about surgery and recovery.

Objectives/Competencies

  1. Keep abreast with latest development in the field of Medical Surgical Nursing
  2. Promote hands on skill in advanced nursing procedures in Medical Surgical Nursing areas
  3. Facilitate research activities by the student and faculty in Medical Surgical Nursing field
  4. Update the students and faculty of the change in protocols & policies in the field of Medical Surgical Nursing

Description:

To illustrate transparent horizon of understanding community health concept. To cultivate positive attitude in care of family and community client. Competently conveying standard care to client with illness by applying basic principle of community health nursing.

 Recall the components of community health nursing.

 

2. Reviews the administrative set up of PHC and function as a member of health team while rendering health care services.

 

3. Participates in various health programmes.

 

4. Practices principles of home visit.
